Hey there! I know it’s been a long while, but it’s been a busy season.
Part of me is kind of wary about returning with such an inflammatory post, but such are the times in which we live.
I’m not going to offer a dictionary definition of grooming. Instead, I offer you videos worth 10,000 words. My favorite Podcaster will intersperse relevant commentary.
As a teacher, homeschool mother, and someone heavily invested in education and educational philosophy, I highly suggest those of you using government schools develop a hyper vigilance. This stuff is often subtle in ways that you wouldn’t foresee. That’s usually the way of things, as almost every parent can attest.
We are experiencing our “last hurrah!” in Florida right now. By that I mean, the time of the year characterized as mid-spring is a time of year when we still experience what I would consider perfect weather: balmy, breezy, and 76 degrees when the sun is highest in the sky. By next Month, sauna weather will be kicking into high gear, but we’re not there yet!
Recently, we took the opportunity to drive off the beaten paths, along back roads, and through what is referred to by those in the know as “real Florida”. Others call it “old Florida”. Either way, if you want to know why luminaries Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, robbers barons Henry Flagler and Henry Plant, and famous writers such as Ernest Hemingway and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings found Florida a worthy place despite the oppressive heat and cheesy tourist culture we’re known for, you have to know where to look.
Taking the time to soak up the sun, fresh air and beautiful scenery is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We simply stumbled upon this beautiful spot while driving by, and had to stop and sit on the grass for a bit:
I’m reading several books right now, and hope to be able to post a review in the next week. Stay tuned, but I hope in the meantime these images of spring spark joy.
